Buying A Luggage Bag

26 December 2012
I was shopping for luggage bags recently. Will be going to US next year..should buy a huge bag to accomodate all the shopping spree yg akan dibuat nanti..

This time sbb dh keje dan ada la cukup duit, memang aim untuk beli beg yg berkualiti n at the same time, classy dan affordable. Dah serik beli beg pink yg murah dan cpt rosak =.=

Which type would u buy? Hard shell or soft bag? I opted for hard shell.. Tengok ini beg..

Ada keburukan hard shell ni..
1. Prone to pecah kalau org angkat luggage x careful
2. Takboleh expandable so kene hati2 xboleh terlebih kang x muat..

Kebaikan..
1. In terms of security, susah bag mcm ni can be tampered by org jahat. Tp yg ni applicable kalau lock cmni la, bkn jenis zip

2. Tak koyak, tak berbulu.. But i guess kalau beli beg kain yg kualiti tggi mungkin it wont koyak jugak kot..i dont know..

3. More stylish! I think this was the main reason why I bought a hard shell..look at how shiny it is.. N purple!

Interior..

I bought it at Sogo, brand Beverly Hills. Harga RM 320 from normal price 799. Sgt berbaloi. Oh bag, you n I will travel places :)

Satu Hari Bekerja Di Rumah

22 December 2012
Oleh sebab mama saya ada event Khamis lepas, walaupun kebetulan adik saya ada di rumah sebab cuti, saya terpaksa apply kepada boss untuk bekerja dari rumah. For the first time. Kerana kesibukan kerja, tambahan pulak ada deadline dan ramai orang cuti akhir tahun, agak susah gak aa nak mintak cuti last minute. Only option was to ask boss if I can work from home. I was glad ada boss yang understanding and allowed me to work from home just for that day.

Is it allowable? Yes. In my company, it is a vague concept, but it is allowable. Mengikut budi bicara your boss, and the trust he/she puts on you.

I thought it was fun that I record my work day pada hari itu. No stuck in traffic jam, no ironing clothes, just pyjamas, a crying baby and a laptop. A surveillance engineer from an oil and gas company working at home.

0700 hrs - Set up my laptop and prepared to start work. Obviously belum mandi lagi. Aisyah masih tidur. Waktu kerja official is 8 am

0710 hrs - In the next 2 weeks, morning teleconference antara office and platform tiap2 hari adalah pada pukul 7.30 am instead of 8.15 am. Emailed my Asset Manager mintak dia call saya sekali to make a 3-way teleconference.

0730 hrs - Mendengar morning teleconference on phone.

0810 hrs - Selesai. Start bekerja. Ada email yang kena dibalas etc etc..

0830 hrs - Aisyah dah bangun, so I had to attend to her sekejap. Breastfed and bathed her and put her in walker

0900 hrs - Continued with work. Ad 30 min break di situ tadi..all the time I reminded myself that I had to work and my sister (who is supposed to primarily take care of her) belum bangun lagi!

0930 hrs - Morning surveillance in computer and sending gas report update (ada deadline hari ni, sebab tu susah nak cuti). Call platform and IM. My sister dah bangun jadi dia main2 dengan Aisyah. Lega la sikit emaknya..

1030 hrs - Took another break and mandi time.

1100 hrs - Teleconference for my biweekly surveillance meeting dengan offshore. Kali ni my colleague yang chair the meeting sebab soon dia akan jaga ini platform dan saya akan berpindah ke platform yang baru.

1200 hrs - Lunch time. Cooked for lunch.

1330 hrs - Lambat start keje sebab adik takde (kuar kejap), anak nangis, tengah masak pulak tu. Hadoi camane mau keje ni.. Buat my engineering assessment report yang dah lama tertangguh untuk disiapkan. Kat office susah nak concentrate, ada je benda lain yang kononnya lagi penting. Masak tak siap so adik continue haha. Camne nak masak anak aku ni nangis.

1415 hrs - Break untuk makan.

1430 hrs - Aisyah nangis. Baring sambil menyusukan dia..tertido jap beberapa minit. Rasa bersalah melanda..I need to work!

1500 hrs - Internet dah putus completely. Dahla connection lembab gile.. I selalu jugak buat keje kat rumah waktu weekend tapi xde la cam continuous camni kan...kadang2 kejap2 je. Jadi memang terasa sangat internet lembab nak load files etc.. Terasa pentingnya and how we have taken technology for granted. Continue buat assessment report offline. Anak nangis kadang2 so kene break la kejap2

1630 hrs - SMS from my colleague. The platform which I will soon be assigned to, had power failure. Mereka semua assemble kat emergency control room. Hadoi! Aku pulak terstuck kat rumah..rasa bersalah lagi. Tapi takkan nak pegi office lak time ni..colleague kata xyah, she can handle it. I felt so bad for her. Dalam hati pikir nasib baik la plak x datang office kalau tak aku yang kene handle ini emergency. - ish tak baik betul perasaan tu.

1700 hrs - Dah 5 pm, tapi masih lagi nak siapkan assessment report. Akhirnya report tu 95% siap setelah hampir tertangguh lama.

1730 hrs - Mama saya balik.

1800 hrs - Masih lagi on my laptop. Agaknya rasa bersalah sebab banyak masa rehat tadi kot, attending Aisyah yang asik nangis. (hoi brp byk kali nk sebut perkataan 'bersalah' ni?)

My sister: Aik keje lagi ke?
Saya: Mama kene keje nak beli Aisyah nappy.

Haha.

By pukul 7 pm rasanya dah tak bekerja dah. Tapi pukul 9 malam camtu, hantar email kat boss pasal weekly work highlight. Nampak dalam microsoft messenger yg my colleague tu masih kt ofis. Rasa bersalah melanda. Offered to ganti dia tapi dia kata takpayah ss keadaan dah stabil and we have started loading one gas compressor.

Tidur pukul 10.

My verdict for working from home? Sebolehnya tak nak buat lagi. Walaupun akhirnya dapat siapkan report yang lama tangguh, tapi with the type of work I am in, kurang produktiviti sebab internet lembab dan anak nangis, jadi kerja tak berapa nak berjalan dengan lancar. Probably the only time boleh bekerja dengan baju tidur :)

Baby Fair at CMC Giant Taman Connaught

17 December 2012
For the first time since being a mommy, saya telah join para2 ibu yang lain, crazy over baby sales. Selama ni baca dalam blog je. Hari Jumaat lepas I was on leave with Husband, nak bawk Aisyah for her immunisation, lepas tu nak hantar my Little Bean sterilizer untuk repair, which is still under warranty. Kebetulan tempat yang I nak pergi tu was CMC Center dekat je dengan my house, and kebetulan pulak Husband nak beli walker for little Aisyah. Terus I cakap yang I saw a bunting while on my way to work, ada warehouse sale discount up to 80% kat tempat yang sama. Walaupun tempat dekat je, tapi tak pernah lagi singgah CMC Giant.

Tempat nya kosong je..banyak kedai tapi waktu kami sampai 11 am, semua kedai belum bukak lagi. Hantar sterilizer tu pun kat Childhood Basic Marketing Sdn Bhd. Rupanya diorang la yang organse fair tu. I imagined hall yang besar and banyak barang..tapi tengok2 ala seciput nya 'warehouse sale' dia.. Tapi tak sangka best betul deal dia.

Tempat pertama dituju sudah tentu la longgokan walker. Little Bean walker yang original price RM 299.90 dapat RM 130. itu yang high range punya.. yang xde adjustable heights was RM 100. Macam biasa la lepas balik I pegi bloghopping tengok blog lain punya review..I terjumpa blog ni.. Motherhood Journey

Lepas tu kasik Hubby baca. And tiba2 dia kata "Ey tu gambar you!" Haha and I realized blogger ni telah menangkap gambar yang kebetulan ada I sekali, dengan rakusnya memilih walker while showing to Hubby (with Aisyah) kat bawah for approval. Ye aa..kalau lambat sure cepat disambar orang. There was one Bright  Starts punya bouncer, harga sebenar dalam 400+ was sold for only 150..tapi dah lambat last 2 units dah kene amik orang, so I wouldn't wanna miss buying a walker here. Padan aa I cam nampak ada orang snap gambar with an ipad or something..hehe Ms Nur I tag gambar I kat sini ye..

Kami tak dapat jumpa high chair. Only from that blog I found out that there were high chairs tapi by 10.30 camtu dah sold out.. Sale bukak pukul 11 and yet..? And I also learnt that sale ni is twice a year..so I am definite that I will come again for the next one.. I beli walker yg ni..

And also Fisher Price punya kereta mainan.. RM 50 je..from original price RM 160..

It was a very good deal. In a way I was glad I tak beli terlau banyak barang. I wil definitely come here again haha. I resisted Husband's wanting to buy a bumbo seat, a strap-on baby chair (sbb the deal wasnt so fantastic) and a few more toys. And only walked out with two items :)

The better thing, besides the walker being a steal, is Aisyah suka sangat with this toy. She will get distracted with all the fancies atas walker tu, belek2 semua benda. Definitely mama Aisyah won't be complaining cos she has more hands to do more work :)

The First Years: Breastflow Bottles

03 December 2012

Did you do researches before buying bottles for baby  feeding? I know my husband did. I was packing the unused bottles when I realized how many types of bottles that we have bought.

Has anyone ever bought this brand? Breastflow from The First Years. In the picture, it's the botol yang kiri sekali. I know I have never heard of this from blog2 yang I baca. Only Hubby yang tau. Apparently the bottle works like how milk supposed to flow from mommy's breast since it has a double wall making it harder for milk to flow as easily as normal bottles. Well, it was a failure to baby Aisyah.

We thought that during transition between bottles and direct feeding, she would probably find it easier to feed with bottles thus she would reject breast feeding, something that mothers don't want, since, well, bottles are supposed to be lagi senang, constant supply (kalau bukan constant supply maksudnya botol tu kosong ataupun tersumbat ye tak) and tak payah susah2. Hence the Breastflow bottles came about.

But it turned out that she had a very hard time to feed on bottles rather than breast milk. We bought this one whole box, sekarang ni tak tau nak buat apa. Bought it for about RM 60+ kot for 4 bottles (2 besar, 2 kecik)

So when we learnt about it, Hubby said "Well that's what I learnt in med school.." (the fact that baby susah nak feed on breasts kalau dah dapat botol). But apparently ramai mommies out there who had the same problem as I was, which was, babies tak nak feed on bottles tapi nak dengan mommy je. We learnt then to buy bottles in moderation. Beli satu at a time sebab kita taktau if the baby suka ke tak.

Contest - Sharing Kleenex Softness with Ibu Emir

30 November 2012
At her age of 6 months old, dia sangat suka memegang dan mencapai barang. In particular, she loves anything paper more than she does her toys. That has made her become so fond of..

the Kleenex tissue box!

Indeed, I let her play with this box sampai terkoyak2 and dah kemek2.. nasib baik tissue ni untuk kegunaan rumah, bukan untuk tetamu atau dalam kereta.

I love the softness in every piece of tissue paper that Kleenex offers. My daughter can't help but loving it too.. loving the box that is!

Setakat ni je dah dua kotak tisu Kleenex yang dia dah 'lembut'kan. She will shake, press, throw, and even nibble!

Thank you Kleenex and ibuemir for organizing the contest :)

Kongsi kasih sayang bersama Kleenex dengan Sumijelly.com

Kali ni nak try join contest. Sambil join contest, sambil menderma ke tabung kebajikan. Anjuran pihak Kleenex Malaysia dengan blogger sumijelly.com , setiap penyertaan akan menyumbang RM10  untuk bantuan amal Make A Wish Malaysia  untuk merealisasikan setiap impian mereka yang dimana antara mereka mempunyai penyakit yang merbahaya.

So I am supposed to post a photo yang menggambarkan suasana comel ataupun best. Mari tengok satu gambar yang saya rasa comel..

Gambar ni waktu kami sekeluarga pergi ke salah sebuah expo di KLConvention Center. Waktu tu saya terlupa bawak topi Aisyah. Hubby pakaikan bedung dia kat kepala takut dia sejuk, but as soon as dia gerakkan kepala dia, bedung tu jatuh and tutup muka dia. I managed to capture the moment - she looked sooo cute terkapai2 sebab tiba2 je suasana jadi hitam.

Lagi satu, can you see the baby carrier that my Husband is using to carry little Aisyah? Lepas tinggalkan tempat ni kami pergi makan and letakkan dia atas stroller sebab dia tengah tidur. Tapi suami saya masih lagi pakai baby carrier tu.

Saya komen aa kat dia "Abang, you look like a pilot, with the parachute". Cuba bayangkan sket, kan sama..dia punya strap tu kan nampak macam orang pakai payung terjun kan..

But he said "No. I am better than that"

"Apa dia?"

"I am a dad"

Heartwarming sangat dia cakap camtu :)

Beautiful Feeling of Being A Mother

28 November 2012
When my husband and I were united in a matrimony, it did not cross my mind to extend our family so soon. I was barely a year old with the company and Husband is still undergoing his hectic housemanship. My colleagues consist of new and young engineers and our lunch table chats are not centered around diapers, breastfeeding and confinement.

However it did not come as a shock that Husband voiced out that he wanted to start a family. I was of course, hesitated. I could not stand crying children and shy away from taking care of babies. How good of a mother I can be? How prepared would I be?

As our marriage entered 4 months old, I was confirmed to be pregnant. Tears swelled onto my eyes, no they weren't quite tears of happiness. I was sobbing every night in my sleep for the next couple of weeks upon discovering the news. I wasn't quite prepared yet to be a mother.

Days and months passed by and I tried to build a love for my unborn child, yet I feel little. It wasn't until the day of my labour that the feeling came. As I was battling over life and death in the labour room, with my Husband next to me, I said to him during the final stage of labour, "I will try. I will try". I tried and I tried to push her out and finally there she was, out to the world and in my hands.

As she lied pronated on my chest crying and I looked into her eyes, I felt a sense of warmth. I was holding my child. My husband kissed me and said "I love you baby". Nurses and my gynae congratulated me - it was an easy birth, they said.

I look at her, I feel so thankful to have given the chance to hold this baby in my hands, to see her first smile, to hear her first babble. To feed her when she is hungry. To nurse her when she is sick. And the best thing is to have her smiling and laughing as my Husband rolls her on the bed and carries her up in the air.  The worst thing, is to think of my past upon discovering the baby.

So mothers, if you feel what I felt before, please know that being mothers are a beautiful feeling. You'll discover very early or if you are like me, you will discover it at a time that I was. I have never stopped thanking God, for the beautiful gift He sent me. I will duly serve you Aisyah, as your mother.

Feeding On Bottles

27 November 2012
While I was in my confinement (pantang), it took me a while until it knocked me that I need to start to train her using bottles for feeding. It was at about the 3rd week or 4th week when I started, but due to kemalasan, they weren't frequent. It was also mainly because I got tired trying to feed baby Aisyah. She continuously refused being fed in bottles and cried and cried.

I was sorta taking advantage of having my husband feed her and deal with all the tantrums because there are tips on having somebody else, not the mother yang feed the baby. Because the baby would recognize his/her mummy's body smell and rasa pelik kenapa  guna cara yang dia tak familiar with. But his crazy working hours means he's always tired and not around. Jadi I wasn't disciplined enough to do it.

One month before I masuk keje semula, bells started ringing in my head. Panik gila. I had visions that I had to take some unpaid leaves (or worse, quit) sebab my baby couldn't feed EBM (expressed breast milk) on bottles therefore I have to be with her all the time.

I turned to facebook to luahkan perasaan. My mak angkat back in my Sheffield days was one of those who responded. It was a very comforting and reassuring coment she  made. She said, "Teruskan (cuba bagi EBM), baby takkan biarkan diri kebuluran, when mum isn't there dia akan minum jugak"

It was a tough first week for Aisyah since I came back to work. But she has been OK since, and true enough to my mak angkat's word, my worry was shifted to maintaining EBM stock.

For those who worry about your baby not able to bottle feed, I say worry not. Please start bottle milk (EBM) very early and be persistent. InsyaAllah

Mines South Lake Cruise

15 November 2012
And so on a Deepavali public holiday, two of my siblings, my mum, baby Aisyah and I went to Mines Shopping Centre. It has been so long since I last went there, thought the place already dead, but it wasn't quite, really. Tujuan pergi was to utilize free vouchers for 4 adults for Mines water cruise which Hubby and I obtained upon signing up for Palace Vacation Club.

Before that, kami sibuk jugak nak beratur for free Starbucks drinks . Each person received two drinks, so you see there was a very long queue in front and behind us. There were the Red Bean + Green Tea Frappucino and Caramel + Tea Jelly Frappucino, but we couldn't finish the green tea one..tak sedap.

Anyway, off we went for the water cruise. My sister's friend called it "longkang cruise". It wasn't far from the truth. The ride we got was free but people queueing in front of me paid hundreds (like RM 100-200) for their families to hop on. The ticket costed RM 30+ per adult, I felt it was a ripoff.

Cruising through the canal, or should I say, through shops' backdoors?

It wasn't worth going. But hey, at least it's free.

Claiming my Clinelle products

06 November 2012
So I finally managed to slip out of the office to claim my prize which I won about two weeks ago in a radio contest. Pergi awal just before 11am to avoid lunch rush and came back at 12.10 camtu. Of course being an honest employee, I covered the time taken for me to go out. I was working through lunch and after 5 pm. (Ala mananya pernah kami semua tak complete keje 8 jam sehari, terlebih2 ada lah..huh)

I was driving from KLCC to Tropicana City Mall, its head office. Agak jauh aa but thank god for the Sprint Highway, it took me only about 20 mins one way to reach the place.

It was very quick, it took me less than 5 minutes to claim my prize.

Look what I was entitled to.

  • Clinelle Ingenius Optimizer Daily Booster
  • Clinelle Skin Smoothing Scrub
  • Clinelle SnoWhite Mask
  • Clinelle Hydra Firm Night Cream
Initially on the day, I call sebab nak dapat Clarins product, which was offered earlier than Clinelle, but on the same day. But I wasn't the 8th caller through, so I tried for Clinelle. Tiba2 rezeki dapat pulak..alhamdulillah.

I am not a skincare regime kinda person but I know I should somehow start. Minat jugak dengan Optimizer Daily Booster since it's meant for aging skin..haha. I guess I don;t have the boost coz my skin has been so perfect and smooth (err..perasan). Anyway, hope this is the boost I need.

Thank you Capital FM.

Renovation Expo and Mother Baby Kids Expo, Nov 2012 @ PWTC - verdict: Disapponting

03 November 2012
Just came back from there this evening. If you are contemplating to go there, I suggest you skip this one. Since there were two themes for the expo, lagi satu ada Mother, Baby and Kids Expo (MBK) from the same organizer, Hubby and I were expecting throngs of people. But it wasn't for the Renovation Expo, ni mesti sebab ada Homedec Part 1 and Part 2 just finished last week, so I guess the timing was really bad.

The Renovation Expo was the bigger scale out of the two. Tapi sadly memang noticeably tak ramai orang. Expect a lot of vendors selling water filters and kuali, bukannya renovation per se pun. As for the Mother Baby Kids Expo, it was much smaller scale, tapi yang tu ramai orang, but still tak ramai macam kat Midvalley dulu (some motherhood expo or somethin)..since the last time any such event was in August kot kalau tak silap.

And since the place was small, it was congested. Don't bring your pushchair if you have a baby carrier. You can circle the whole area in less than an hour and we were like, "Is that all?". Tempat untuk baby expo ni tak strategic - you gonna have to traverse through the whole Renovation Expo, seberang the sungai and naik tingkat atas untuk sampai baby expo. Untuk ibu mengandung, kesian tau.

I couldn't find what I wanted kat MBK expo. Kalau ada pun, harga dia tak la murah sangat pun compared to previous expo, so I ended up not buying what I targetted. I bought Aisyah's pyjama for RM 18.00 and Hubby bought a cap (RM 12 or somethin...)

All in all, it was a waste of my precious weekend with Hubby where it could be channelled elsewhere. We spent the rest of day got lost in traffic and trapped in traffic jam for 3 hours. It was a mix of a lot of traffic lights, sesat and accident at Jalan Tun Razak. Not a good day. I keep in mind that will not go for this organizer punya expo next time. That's how bad it made me feel. Haha.

Again, if you are contemplating to go, I suggest you go for a picnic instead.

Klinik Swasta atau Klinik Kerajaan?

30 October 2012
Recently I went fo do little Aisyah punya immunisation for 3 months, which is way past due since she was almost 5 months at the time. I had a day off so conveniently I took her to a klinik kerajaan nearby. Last two times I went to GP clinic, so initially pergi ke klinik kerajaan memang agak kekok..

Firstly, waktu nak daftar nurse tanya where's Aisyah's other immunisation book. Biasanya kalau baby lahir, the hospital akan bagi 2 buku (pink or blue, depending on your baby gender) - one is slightly thicker than the other. Yang less thicker, memang dah tulis terang2 untuk simpan kat klinik. The thicker one is for our own keep.

But I had both with me. Waktu kat klinik GP dulu, doktor tu suruh simpan je buku tebal tu, xyah bawak. So ended up I bawak buku nipis tu je. Nurse kat klinik kerajaan tu cakap "sepatutnya buku nipis ni simpan kat klinik". My sister (who is a final year med student) affirmed it. So next time kena bawak buku tebal tu jugak. In the end buku nipis tu simpan kat klinik tu.

Secondly, before immunisation was given. nurse akan tanya about baby's development/progress and compare it against typical baby's development. I found it pleasant (tambah pulak nurse tu baik and selalu senyum), sebab klinik GP x de pun tanya camtu. Dia just timbang berat, jab, and off you go.

Masa nak timbang dia suruh baby bukak baju (including her nappy). I was hesitant at first, terpinga2 even, sampai banyak kali kena tanya my sister betul ke kena bukak semua baju. Dia kata kat kerajaan memang camtu procedure dia. I thought that should give a more accurate reading of the weight and all.. but that's not important..more important is, I found that my trip to klinik kerajaan is more wholesome and more pleasant.

Kena tunggu lama tu biasala. Taknak tunggu lama, datang la awal kan.

Since little Aisyah's immunisation book is already kept in the clinic, I plan to continue bringing her there. Problem is, I'm gonna have to take a half day off or something la.

Anything for my baby :)

Picnic Basket

17 October 2012
After eyeing for this and contemplating whether to purchase or not purchase for more than a month, I decided to go ahead and splurge for this..

  ..Picnic basket!

The picture shows a comparison against a typical mug. It's huge! It can even be baby Aisyah's playpen..err..except it's not stable enough la.

It can fit a lot of your picnic stuffs in there. My point is, it is convenient to bring around your cooked meal, say, for a kenduri, or a potluck. Many a time I had to wrap my cake or pyrex bowl with only a cling film, and carry it around (presumably less unhygienically) without a nice bag to put it in. This can serve just that. Tapi make sure you bawak barang setanding with its size la..nanti bawak basket punya besar, barang dalam ciput je.

I saw this at Genting Sempah's R&R at Karak Highway. After passing there for a number of times in the last month, I finally decided to purchase a couple of weeks back. It was RM 85, after I haggled from RM 95.

Now the question is how to make full use of it.. Currently I'm saving space by stuffing Aisyah's stuffs in there....

Good as a wedding gift too :)

Being A Mother Means Having To Sacrifice Things..

05 October 2012
Today at work while leaving for home, a colleague greeted goodbye to a friend. Apparently he will be leaving for United States tomorrow for training. Was curious to know which training is he going so I asked. My friend said, "Ala, training yang you turned down tu..".

I was offered to attend that training by my boss in Sept just as soon as I just came back from maternity leave, but I turned it down. I can't deny that it kinda feels terkilan for not accepting the offer but I am limited because of my baby. Among a few other reasons, one of which was because I was unsure if she can cope a 24-hour flight journey when she is still so small.

Another, since somebody must accompany me (most probably my mum, since there would be no way Hubby can get a 2 weeks leave on a rather short notice), unless I have lotsa cash to spend on another business class ticket for Mum which I don't, I had to be sitted on an economy class, which may be inconvenient when I have a baby to bring. Weighing all the possibilities, I just had to turn it down.

Was I wrong for feeling a slight bit of terkilan? I hope not.

I discovered, being a mother, you have to sacrifice for a lot of things for your child/children. That is strange because that doesn't seem like me. But for the love for my child, I would go for extra lengths. Problem is, when other people don't get it. Let me tell you..

  • I would be one of the earlier ones to have gotten out of office. In corporate world, "early" means leaving the office at anytime between 5-7 pm. Early this week our colleagues wanted to go out for a "happy-hour" session after work but I had to decline, saying that I need to go home. "Kesian my mum (who takes care of little Aisyah) ", I would say. I could sense my colleagues disappointment. And I don't know for how long I had to decline invitations....
  • My friends invited me for dinner at Jusco on one weekday night. It was supposed to be after the Maghrib prayer, of which I gladly accepted the invitation. However the makan started quite late, up until 9 pm, after which I had to then say I couldn't attend. Baby Aisyah usually sleeps at 10 pm and she will throw tantrum is she is not cuddled to sleep at the time that she would. One of my besties' response, I felt quite 'terasa'. I think she said something along the line of  "biar la dia taknak datang pun". I know she was joking but I couldn't help feeling terasa.
I don't wish to have invites stop coming in coz friendship means a lot to me. Having been the earliest yang dah ada anak among my circles of friends, I think it is understandable if my friends tak faham enough on my situation. The time would come when they would get married and have babies and we would soon be talking diapers and breastfeeding! Hah!

Footnote: The other reason why I turned down the training offer was I am definite that I will be sent to US next year! When little Aisyah is bigger and stronger. So, no regrets! :D

Renovation Expo 2012

17 September 2012
We were at the Renovation Expo 2012 (or Super Home Ideas Expo), held at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre. Had a full day, to Midvalley and pergi ke Tabung Haji Kelana Jaya to send Hubby's aunty for haj.

Like our last home expo at PWTC, we also went to secure yet another deal for wallpaper. (aiya..). But that's the best deal we think we could get. From Zen Home Decor - buy 1 wallpaper for RM 999 and free another 4. Tapi each wallpaper ada installation charge RM 150 if we opt for them to install. Still, kalau I beli ini deal, 5 wallpaper sini = harga 2 wallpaper Luzzone haritu.

Wallpaper yang ada offer ni terhad je and tak lah ada 3D bagai macam Luzzone..but still the wallpaper was beautiful. We could use this offer for good use.

 TV panel

Kubiq Kitchen

And again, this is one home and living expo you can definitely miss out if you have so many to choose from. Even with all three of the MVEC halls are open, tempatnya nampak kecik (it's Mid Valley anyway). If you are bringing pushchair, it is quite daunting jugak trying to push your way through the crowd. And despite it being a RENOVATION expo, there were quite a few of the booths selling periuk induction la..some kitchen gadgets ribu riban..hmm.

The next one shall be at KLCC - the awaited Home Dec Parts 1 and 2. Sheeesh..since when I am so into home decorations...since we are about to buy a house that is.. :)

Nite nite all and back to work!

15 September 2012

Harga rumah sekarang...

15 September 2012
In The Sun newspaper on Tuesday: "According to survey, an average household income of RM 14k can only afford a house below RM 500k"

Harga rumah sekarang sangat ridiculous sekali. People like me are forced to purchase a house further and further away from the KL city. Now I'm staying at my parents' at Cheras for about a year or so, jadi pegi keje memang agak bliss..walaupun Cheras ni memang traffic jam memanjang. Bliss, tapi kena bangun awal la.

Pukul 6.30-6.45 am dah kene bertolak dan boleh sampai dalam pukul 7.30-7.40 am or else you'll be stuck in a traffic jam. Till today I'm still counting my bliss, for me, staying at Cheras is relatively best sebab agak dekat jugak dengan KL. Kalau time weekend, 25-30 mins dah boleh sampai KLCC. And the route yang saya amik takpayah lalu tol. Paling cepat saya pernah sampai ke office is about 45-50 mins. Kira OK la tu..I'm not complaining.

One of the earlier houses that we had an eye on, was those new development kat Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh. Dia nama je Sungai Buloh tapi bukan dekat bandar sangat, masih jauh lagi ke dalam..you'll be surrounded still by pokok kelapa sawit sepanjang perjalanan.. Their new house range is called Sinar 2. It's a 2 1/2 storey house, next post I will include the photos. And rumah junction lot, ala yang kalau jalan bentuk L tu, rumah dia dekat sudut L tu la..haih taktau camne nak explain :D So it does have quite a bit of generous land there.

It's priced at RM 795k (mak datuk terbalik kome mendengarnya). Tapi ada 10% + 7% discount.. 10% from developer and 7% bumiputra discount. Jadi dapatlah RM 660k camtu.. Tapi will that be worth it with the amount of traffic jam yang kene endure tiap pagi untuk ke office, dengan jauh lg, minyak..tol..

But it was the most aesthetically pleasing house yang saya survey. Cantik, tapi ada mampu ka nak duduk jauh gitu sementara kerja di KL? Hmm. We found ourselves a better deal so we turned this offer down.

Perfect Livin' Expo 2012 @ PWTC

13 September 2012
Our newfound hobby is visiting expos.. Morning traffic jam can eye on the new buntings around Jalan Tun Razak, TUDM area, PWTC.., kot-kot ada expo yang berkenan.

Last 2 weeks we went to  Perfect Livin' 2012 expo. Unfortunately dapat pergi sekejap je sebab dah nak tutup. Fortunately for Hubby coz he already went there without me on the first day (Thursday).

Photos, photos!

Hubby booked a package with Luzzone, a company specializing in Korean wallpaper. Personally, I didn't see much of a value to book something non-essential so early on. But it was quite a good deal. Bayar RM 200, boleh beli an unlimited supply of wallpaper for RM 798 per roll selama 2 tahun. Haarga sebenar RM 1200-1300.

I think wallpaper makes a room look more themed, senang bersihkan especially kalau cik Aisyah ni suka menconteng dinding bila besar nanti, and house looks more classy (yang ni cik nurinkhairi suka). :P

Langsir theme black white. Hmm nice

Buy 1 lamp worth RM 1800, dapat 2 lagi lampu percuma.

Sorry I already snapped a photo walaupun kata no photography allowed. (Why??). New aquarium concept, embedded jadi part of perabot..

An English and white theme for Aisyah's room, insyaAllah..

Hubby and I are both new dalam  bab2 home design/decorate rumah ni.. So I wanna make sure yang we don't buy too impulsively (adakah Hubby beli wallpaper impulsive?). Main reason why tak sempat nak habiskan semua expo tu (it is hugee! PWTC!) sebab layan some salesmen who wouldn't let you go and tried to make a sale as much as he/she could! One advice is jangan tergopoh booking all the perabot la apa..tawaran for kitchen cabinets..closet..50% discount pun ada but I'm glad we didn't rush in. Important things macam tu bukan kena fikir murah je but kualiti and yang penting, functionality.

This week will be a Renovation Expo kat Mid Valley.. (I'm guessing it will be kecik je). Besides that, plenty more expos to come (source: Lowyat Forum):

Minister's Suite at Palace of Golden Horses

10 September 2012
Had an great weekend with Hubby. Despite checking in very late, we had an awesome one night's stay at the Minister's Suite at Palace of Golden Horses, Mines Seri Kembangan. It was a free gift after we signed up for their Vacation Club. By 12 noon next day, we checked out and went to Rawang for some agenda.

We didn't really manage to check out the resort's facilities but that's because we will be definitely be coming back many more times here. What's more it's just like, 20 minutes away from my parents' house?

Jom tengok gambar!

Shower, bidet and toilet. First time nampak bidet kat Malaysia. Bathtub dgn sink not shown in picture

The bedroom. Taken from balcony. It's huuge.

There's a door that separates the bedroom from the living room
The living room. Judging from the sofa beds yang ada, ramai orang boleh muat ini bilik and tido dengan selesa. Next time we're coming here, I think we can invite our family, just for the fun of staying at the hotel :)

A toilet at the living room side

Tapi kan.. kalau nak ambik deco dia buat ilham..ambience dia klasik sangat. Nampak macam mewah style la , tp not my taste. Hah!

Bandar Damai Perdana property price

21 August 2012
Over the past week just before this Raya week we have been busy, bukan busy persiapan raya tapi busy mencari rumah. Seperti tahun lepas, persiapan Raya kami as a small family tambah pulak apartment ni bersepah sebab tengah pindah keluar, sangat sederhana.

So on the first day of Raya after all the makan-makan, kami sambung pencarian rumah di bahagian southern Klang Valley. Kami nampak ada iklan tentang Bandar Damai Perdana, so without online research, we thought we could give it a try dan kami pun menuju la ke sales gallery. Memang dekat dengan rumah my parents.

I am narrating this based on my Husband's nyer story. I dengan Aisyah tak keluar ke sales gallery sebab hujan lebat sangat.

  • Rumah 2-storey terrace, 24' x 75' - besar la ni..
  • Harga rumah intermediate RM 800K - ok lagi la, tapi dah kira mahal la. Ni macam above average.
  • Harga rumah end lot tak ingat
  • Harga rumah corner lot RM 1.6 M - yang ni Husband memang blurted out "what da heck??!!"
OK memang tak pernah aa tengok lagi harga rumah corner lot 2x ganda daripada intermediate lot. Yang shabby gila tu sebab salesperson tu punya alasan: "because we have a balcony" and "it has extra 20 feet land" . Alasan tak masuk akal langsung, semua corner lot memang macam tu *geleng kepala*

Oleh itu kami meninggalkan kawasan jajahan Cheras dengan perasaan yang agak bewildered dan bengang.

Nah ni brochure rumah.

International Baby Expo 2012: hasil tangkapan

11 August 2012
Just got back from the International Baby Expo at KL Convention Centre. It is probably the best venue to hold trade exhibition such as this. Utmost important is the venue is spacious, unlike Mom & Baby Expo 2012 kat Mid Valley Exhibition Centre haritu, we were literally brushing against each other. Crowd was huge, it was.. but it wasn't so much to do with the crowd - it was the pathway yang kecik sangat. Needless to say, our shopping experience kat MVEC tu was terrible. Kalau yang carry pushchair tu mesti lagi susah.. I didn't. I was carrying Aisyah in my tummy :)

Anyway back to the IBEX story, best venue also because the parking was free - for me :) Office was just literally next door.

Dah 3 bulan tak datang office, singgah kejap to pick up my letters. Kantoi dengan member yang datang office buat keje - weekend duduk rumah la Rosita oi. hehe.

Sorry no pictures of the expo - I was in a rush despite bringing a camera --> excuse je tu, truth is I was hesitant. But below are my hasil tangkapan for the day..

Been wanting to buy peek-a-boo books for little Aisyah. These two are for RM 50 (RM 28 each). Typical price for these kinda books are between RM 39-41 each.. so it's a good catch. *tangkap masuk net*

Rompers with messages. RM 15 for one, RM 35 for three. Another kedai offered 3 for RM 40. I amik yang ni. Lepas beli rasa segan plak haha what da heck.

Yang ni saja snap. For my Mama's amusement.

One of the items in my shopping list crossed! Prior to coming, memang fervently hoping that ada barang ni. Medela Citystyle Cooler Bag. If bought by itself, it costed RM 199 but if bought with any Medela breastpumps, the cooler bag costed RM 150. If bought by itself, RM 199 is the cheapest so far that I have surveyed, so I rembat je la. Actual price RM 269 and some online shops offered 240+. Mommy needs to be stylish while carrying the essentials to work too :D *picturing me carrying Coleman bag*

Singgah Autumnz booth. Nursing bra for RM 24. Ada a good mix of nursing bras sold between RM 24-29 whereas actual price usually RM 39 gitu. And Neuners nursing tea for RM 24 (save RM 8) as well as Autumnz milk storage bag (I saved RM 3).

Missing from the traders' list this time was Lunatots. Thought of stocking up another cloth diaper or two. And I was disappointed that another item I was eyeing for was absent - milk booster supplements in view of me coming back to work soon. So terpaksalah settle that for nursing tea. Salesman tu pelik agaknya tengok I asik sniff the smell of the tea as I was contemplating on making the purchase..coz it didn't smell pleasant. Oh well...

Dynas' punya nursing attire pun ada but after money spent on the bag I decided maybe next time.. I have bought some in the past and love them (harga mahal, but good quality and beautiful designs)

Registration freebies. Kena register dulu baru masuk ini expo. Ada complimentary voucher from Amvory for tummy slimming detox or intensive eye therapy..hmm I already have so much spa vouchers yet so little time having Aisyah, bila mau pegi ni..

OK kali ni takde sangat barang2 merepek (read: non-related) sold here. Last time kat MVEC ada booth jual Ajinomoto. Seriously, who would want to buy an Ajinomoto at a baby/mother-themed exhibition? Probably the closest to non-related was women's pyjamas. (I overheard the salesgirl mengadu kat makcik stall sebelah cakap kedai dia takde orang datang, d'oh). And some weird biscuits but the tagline was Mom's Favourite Biscuits or something like that. But it wasn't something to do with increasing milk supply so I don't know what it is.

Other participants:
- Grolier
- Postpartum wellness, spa yada yada..
- Cellsafe
- Pureen, Avent etc

Took us about 3 hours before we headed back home. Money well spent.

Newborn Mothers and Sleep Deprivation

09 August 2012
Comments/questions I always get, be it from friends, neighbours, strangers even one makcik cleaner at our apartment typically revolve around nighttime with the baby: "tak cukup tido la malam ye" or "amacam night shift?" and comments sewaktu dengannya.

While I was pregnant, sleep deprivation is one of my most feared prospect of being a mother. Having to endure KL traffic in the wee hours of morning and going home late (since getting married I usually try to leave office by 5.30 pm tapi kadang2 ada terlepas jugak sampai 8 pm or so..), sleeping is a very important nighttime activity. I could not recall how many times I almost terlanggar bumper kereta orang almost dozing off while driving in a traffic jam. *ketuk kepala* *tampar pipi* *bukak tingkap to let fresh air in* *headbanging dkt windscreen even!*---> cara2 tahan ngantuk in the car

So it was a relief to know that nighttime is almost a breeze with little Aisyah. Sure, sometimes she does go cranky at night but so far I never had instances of sleep deprivation. I will put her to bed at 11.30-12 am; anytime beyond 12 am, she will go very cranky. And typically the next time she wakes up crying for mommy's milk would be 6.30 am. All this while while I'm still on leave, we would wake up at 9-10 am so that's 9-10 hours of sleep *eee lambat nye bangun mak nya kan*.

Basically Aisyah behaves very well at night! She does make some movements especially when she hears noises or ruffles, but she will sleep soon after, especially when being fed. So whenever other mums related to how little sleep they have, I tend to wonder why..

Is it because they are being bottle fed rather than breastfeed? I feed her in sleeping position (sleeping on my side) and more often than not, I will fall asleep while feeding her so while I woke up feeling achy all over my body, I woke up tido cukup jugak laa.  (believe me, when you were in breastfeeding sleeping position, the position of the arm extending causes my arm sengal2, adoii)

Or is it because the baby sleeps during the day? I will always try to wake Aisyah up if she sleeps more hours than usual during the day. Usually she doesn't, so that keeps me occupied at daytime.

Or maybe a baby is often cranky at night even after all his/her needs are being tended to? *yang ni kesian kat mak ayah dia*

I don't have an answer but I think the best in coping with the sleep deprivation problem is to change the baby's sleep pattern i.e. wake her up during the day, keep her occupied with something else tapi easier said than done la agaknya kot...

Well little Aisyah, keep on sleeping peacefully at night and mommy will have a good day :)

nurinkhairi as Wife and Mother

08 August 2012
Assalamualaikum warahmatullah.

Decided to reactivate my blog again after a long hiatus. Well, it wasn't exactly a hiatus sebab memang I decided to stop altogether last time. Why not? After leaving England, come the working life and I have nothing interesting to blog about my working life. *yawn* I am an engineer working in Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur and the closest thing to anything interesting about my daily life is the traffic jam (ye la tuh - macam nak cakap keje I boring sangat la for any readers to know about).

My inspiration to blog again is the birth of our first princess, Aisyah Hana and the factor that permits it is time. I am still on my maternity leave and my daily activity, besides tending to my daughter is couching in front of the computer with my Aisyah.

Hope I could continue posting despite my crazy working life when I do do get back to work very soon. Till then, love from

nurinkhairi.
